Big first in Luxembourg for a large wooden office building

The insurance company Bâloise has just moved to Leudelange in its wooden offices. The building - called Wooden - is the first wooden office building of this size in Luxembourg. It is distinguished by a load-bearing structure made of PEFC-certified wood sourced exclusively from sustainably managed forests in the region, within a maximum radius of 350 km.
'Wooden' has obtained the 'BREEAM excellent' environmental certification as well as the 'WELL Building standard' label certifying the quality of the interior workspaces with the aim of the well-being of the occupants. Covering an area of 9,500m2, ‘Wooden’ is born from the ambition of developers BPI Real Estate and Iko Real Estate. It was carried out according to the architectural design of ArtBuild, with the help of the engineering bureaus Ney + Partner WOW and Jean Schmit Engineering. The companies CLE (Compagnie luxembourgeoise d'entreprise) and Wood Shapers – both are part of the Groupe CFE group- were at work for the construction; two companies specializing in wood and low-carbon construction.
The majority of the surfaces of ‘Wooden’ are occupied by Baloise Luxembourg. In February CLE and BPI Real Estate Luxembourg will occupy the additional areas. The building has been acquired by the Swiss investment company Acron; the last holdings having just been sold at the same time as the delivery of the building.
