‘Wood Hub’ to be CFE’s new Headquarters
BUILD
CFE is to bring together all the companies of the group under the same roof as of autumn 2023, that of the WoodHub office building, under construction in Auderghem, a few hundred meters from the Boulevard du Souverain. The office building is part of a new mix-used development project of BPI Real Estate, which will see the conversion of outdated office buildings into a mix-use complex with both offices (6,700 m²) and housing (14,000 m²).
For the office building, the construction process will combine wood and concrete with the expertise of Woodshapers, the joint venture of CFE Contracting and BPI Real Estate. The building will be completely removable and recyclable. Archi 2000 architects are in charge of its design. The principles of the circular economy are applied for the construction of the buildings with the recovery, reconditioning and reuse of different existing building materials sourced from the demolished outdated office buildings. The new HQ will be a positive energy building, producing more energy than it consumes thanks to the use of geothermal energy and the installation of almost 500 solar panels on the site. With this new sustainable and positive energy construction project, developer BPI Real is aiming to obtain a ‘BREEAM ‘outstanding’ environmental certificate.
CFE will occupy the office building’s ground floor. From inside the building, their workspaces will benefit from natural lighting thanks to the central and open atrium. Wood hub will be a smart building as it is equipped with a new intelligent management tool which will in particular help to share parking spaces, showers, conference rooms, co-working and facilities.
Being close to the Brussels ring road, CFE new HQ will be easily accessible by car. The two levels of the existing car park under the future residential complexes will be retained and also used in part by office workers. Accessibility by public transport will be easywith the Demey metro station at the doorstep of the building. It allows a quick and direct connection with Brussels city centre.
