Active in the construction and real estate development sector for 45 years, Belgian group Thomas & Piron continues to grow in Belgium and Luxembourg with the acquisition of the BAM Galère company from the Dutch giant of the construction sector Royal BAM Group. Based in Liège, BAM Galère is a major and renowned player in Wallonia, Brussels and Luxembourg, for all construction and civil engineering works for both the public and private sectors. The sale of the company BAM Galère includes the subsidiary BAM Lux and BAM Galère’s plant and equipment, managed by BAM Mat. The company has annual revenues of approximately € 200 million and 650 employees.

Edouard Herinckx, Managing Director of the Thomas & Piron group, comments on this acquisition: “With the arrival of 650 new colleagues, we are suddenly increasing our workforce by 25% and we are implementing our growth plan in an increasingly demanding and professional market. But for this acquisition to fully achieve its objectives, we know that we must respect the field expertise and the entrepreneurial dynamism of those we are welcoming. Nothing will change for the teams in place, except the visual identity of the two companies”. With the integration of these 2 renowned companies, Thomas & Piron will employ around 3,000 people in Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, but also in France, Switzerland, Portugal and Morocco.

Divestments for Royal BAM Goup

Royal BAM Group has so decided to withdraw from the Belgian and Luxembourg markets. Earlier this year, the Group reached also an agreement regarding the divestments of BAM Swiss, BAM Facilities Services (Deutschland) and BAM Deutschland. Ruud Joosten, CEO Royal BAM Group, underlines: “The transaction with Thomas & Piron group marks a further step forward in delivering our strategy ‘Building a sustainable tomorrow’. We are restructuring BAM’s portfolio of businesses to focus on markets and projects where we can leverage our proven competitive strengths and serve the growing demand for sustainable solutions in the construction industry. With Thomas & Piron as the new owner, we have found a trusted partner and paved the way for the successful future of BAM Galère and its employees”.

The transaction, which is subject to approval of the competition authorities, is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022.
