2.000 civil servants of Brussels Region to move and be housed in the Silver Tower
The Silver Tower project in the North District has been at the planning stage for a long time. Its fate is now decided. This tower is to accommodate some 2.000 civil servants of the Brussels Region. The 36-storey building has yet to be built. Ghelamco, with architectural bureau Jaspers-Eyers, will have barely 24 months to construct it and fit it out. This urgency is dictated by the endof the lease contract in November 2020 of the offices currently occupied in City Center. The winning of this deal by Silver Tower thus puts an end to the hopes of others in the running: WTC IV by Befimmo, the Multi Tower from Whitewood, along with Möbius by Immobel.
Retail rents plummeting
In certain cases, landlords are being forced to offer rents at up to 30% below the levels previously operated, in an effort to find retailers to fill the space. In its market analysis Cushman & Wakefield has found that the primary reason for this is the pressure being exerted by e-trading on physical shops.
