Boldness and imagination for MIPIM 2018's opening next week

Mapping World Urbanity' will be the exhibition central theme this year in Cannes. According to the United Nations, the world population is set to reach 9.7 billion in 2050, with 60% be urban-based, with a rising life expectancy. The major challenges for property professionals meeting up at MIPIM, both public and private, will be how to cope with this growth in city populations and offer housing, offices and leisure for all, while meeting the new expectations in terms of services, mobility, infrastructure and sustainability. For the opening conference at 2pm next Tuesday, Adora Zvitak, a young American writer is to speak about tomorrow’s cities, urging them to pay attention to the expectations of the younger generation. MIPIM's organizers want to shake things up a bit by giving the floor this year to this child prodigy! Belgium real estate projects and players will stand out from the crowd again this year in the Belgian Pavilion in the Palais des Festivals but also, we hope, live on the stage of the MIPIM Awards ceremony with four Belgian projects in the running ...

Logistics and semi-industrial real estate still register excellent performances in Belgium
During 2017, just under 1.9 million square metres of space were taken up, divided into 760,000 m² for logistics and 1.1 million for semi-industrial. This represents the second highest total in a decade. Both markets posted performances superior to the five and ten year averages.

The new management team of REALTY is bringing in a host of of innovations and keynote conferences this year to further boost the audience of 7,000 real estate professionnals who attended the trade exhibition last year. Networking will be top of the agenda but also inspiration through the conference program. Among them, guest speaker Fujimoto Sou is not to be missed. He hit the headlines in recent years with some amazing constructions, such as the well-known 'Mille Arbres' in the heart of Paris.
