Demand for e-trade logistics space set to rocket
Cushman & Wakefield has been looking at the growing importance of the on-line shopping segment and its impact on the logistics property segment. In Brussels alone, annual e-commerce parcel volumes are expected to grow from 14.7 million parcels in 2016 to 27.2 million in 2021. As a result, demand for urban logistics space to serve last mile deliveries is growing in tandem with e-commerce orders. Improving urban Logistics will require joint planning from (e-)retailers, parcel companies and city stakeholders in the long term for re-appropriation of outdated warehouses located in 30-minute drive time zones from inner city locations.

Strategic alliance between BEFIMMO and SILVERSQUARE a co-working pioneer
During a press conference, Benoît De Blieck, CEO of Befimmo, expressed the desire of the company to anticipate the rapid and profound evolution of the office market. Within this framework, Befimmo has concluded a strategic partnership with the Silversquare company, a Belgian leader in co-working centres.
Together they intend to develop 4-5 co-working centres over the next two years. The first Silversquare @Befimmo (4.000 m2) will open its doors at the beginning of next year in the Triomphe building at Ixelles. In time, all multi-occupancy Befimmo buildings, along with new projects, may be organised to accommodate a Silversquare @Befimmo centre .
