New public service training schools being prepared

Work has been started by citydev.brussels to rehabilitate the Blue Star site located on the Rue du Planeur at Haren. By the end of this year, it will be ready to provide accommodation for a number of different schools: these are grouped together under the banner of Brusafe – the future regional school for safety and security related topics – and are: the police school (ERIP), the fire school (CFPB), the urgent medical training institute (IFAMU), and the public administration school (ERAP).

When Brusafe first moves in, the accommodation will comprise the rehabilitation of buildings A, B and C, which will constitute temporary accommodation. This will be followed by the demolition of buildings D, E and F and the definitive construction of the total school with all the infrastructures necessary for theoretical and practical training. At a later date, the first three buildings (A, B and C) will also be demolished and larger premises constructed. The total surface area will eventually extend to around 25,000 m².

In more detail, the works will re-equip the first three buildings concerned with classrooms, an auditorium, administrative offices and other functions. These buildings amount to 8,800 m² and will be suitable for 500 persons. The second phase of demolition/reconstruction will add further practical functions, required for the specific nature of the training to be given.
