Nautilus to add 200 apartments to canal-side
The necessity to build more residential accommodation in Brussels is well documented, and the ‘canal zone’ is a favoured location. One of the latest projects to meet both of these criteria is Eaglestone’s ‘Nautilus’. The project is located at the angle of the Boulevard Industriel and the Boulevard Paepsem, and is thus within easy reach of the Gare du Midi and its expanding range of nearby facilities.
Nautilus will comprise some 200 apartments spread over four buildings and a total surface area of 20,000 m˛. Ground floor retail units on 2,000 m˛ have also been envisaged by the developers within the project. The total built area is therefore 22,000 m˛. With a concern not to construct apartments which are too big or expensive for real market demand in the commune of Anderlecht, Eaglestone has scheduled three quarters of the units as either one or two bedroom apartments. There will also be around 25 studio flats, and average prices in the 120,000 to 200,000 Euros range are in line with the Anderlecht market. Axent Architects, responsible for the design, have also included 195 parking spaces beneath a new esplanade.
Works are due to start in 2015 and be completed by 2018.
